I am asking for your support as I am running for the position of Houston Community
College System (HCCS), Board of Trustees, District 1.
I am seeking this public service office because I believe that HCCS is at a crossroads and
must therefore build on its role in the training of tomorrow’s workforce and expand its
academic credentials for those who want to transfer to higher level institutions. I have a
vision for how we can make a real difference in both the lives of HCCS students, and that of
our community as a whole.

- Seek new programs that will nurture business partnerships and promote economic development,
particularly within the area of Northeast College. Expansion of the METRO rail line to Northline
Mall is an incredible opportunity for our area to attract and engage in the similar, dynamic, and
quality growth that has benefited the tax base of other neighborhoods. We must be prepared and
plan for this unprecedented opportunity, the likes of which have not presented themselves since
this area was initially developed.
- Promote the annexation and inclusion of North Forest ISD into HCCS. This chronically troubled
ISD needs the help that HCCS can offer.
- Expand dual enrollment programs that allow high school students the opportunity to enroll in HCCS
courses while still attending high school.
- Work to enhance the long term viability of HCCS through aggressive enrollment expansion and
technology training.
- Promote HCCS as a lower cost and highly effective step for students who are seeking a higher
education. Rising tuition costs at nearby educational institutions make HCCS an incredible value
and this important fact needs to be aggressively promoted.
- Expand access to education for members of the public that may not otherwise have access by
emphasizing and promoting programs with financial aid.
